Savouring Enshi,a book for tourism,gives a comprehensive and profound introduction to Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture(Enshi in short),covering natural sceneries,minority customs,long history and local traditions.The translation report,based on the author's translation practice of chapter six in Savourig Enshi,explores some translation methods for culture-specific items in tourism text with the guidance of Communicative Translation theory.Based on Javier Franco Aixela' definition of culture-specific items and Nida's classification about culture,the author defines and categorizes culture-specific items in chapter six of Savouring Enshi.Under the guidance of Communicative Translation,methods of orthographic adaptation,linguistic translation,annotation(intratextual gloss,extratexual gloss and illustration),limited universalization and absolute universalization are employed to deal with the culture-specific items encountered in this translation practice to give a reader-oriented translation,attracting target readers and promoting local culture. |
