In more than sixty years since the establishment of the People’s Republic ofChina in1949, the images of the Kuomintang soldiers are ever-changing in moviesand teleplays of Chinese Mainland. It could be divided in three periods: the firstperiod was from1949to1978, KMT soldiers are negative stereotype images; thesecond period was from1978to2005, while the CPC held the3rd Session of the11thCentral Committee, which opened a new history period of reform and opening, theimages of KMT soldiers was close to the true objectivity; the third period is since2005,in April,2005, the then KMT chairman Lien Chan, visited the mainland for thejourney of peace, in this period, KMT soldiers are diverse grassroots images. In thesethree periods, through analyze the KMT soldiers’ images in several typical moviesand teleplays, the author tries to conclude the different characteristics of the soldiers’images created in different periods.The humane discourses in movies and teleplays, and the popularity of its spread,both decide the ideological attribute and political attribute of movies and teleplays.For the further understanding of transition of KMT soldiers’ images, we must find outthe reasons behind it, such as the development of politics, economy and culture, theappeals of people from educational circles and the folk, the development offilm-television industry, etc. Only after that can we understand the history and theimages built in movies and teleplays more thoroughly.
