As a form of art, animation is very popular around the world because of itsfeatures such as humor, reality and containment. With the continuing progress ofglobalization and under the requirement of knowledge socialization as well as culturaldiversity, animation becomes one important way for a country to display its culturewhich is full of national features to the world.Japanese animation industry has gone through continuous exploration anddevelopment for almost100years in the global animation field. Nowadays, due to itsparticular creative techniques, ingenious plot conception and excellent postproduction, Japanese animation has occupied a giant share in the international market,thus Japan fully deserves a powerful country in animation industry.However, limited by numerous factors such as culture, region and resource, lackof theme is always one of the bottlenecks for the sustainable development of Japaneseanimation. By comparison, as a country with long history and glorious culture, Chinacan offer abundant themes to Japan. Therefore, a large number of Japanese animationworks with Chinese elements emerge and the animation industry in Japan thenbenefits a lot.This dissertation is divided into three parts to discuss Chinese elements inJapanese animation. The first part elaborates the origin and composition of Chineseelements, and connotation of Japanese animation works, and then we will have aclearer understanding of these two concepts. The second part introduces four mainforms of Chinese elements used in Japanese animation, discusses the reasons of usingChinese elements and changing these elements in Japanese animation works. Thethird part analyzes influence of using Chinese elements and enlightment of Japaneseanimation industry to Chinese animation industry.
