Charles de Gaulle was an hero of France in the special times. He had left a distinctive article in the world’s history. Algeria war is a anticolonial war that the Algerian pursue independence against the French. On July3,1962, Charles de Gaulle announced that the Algeria became a independent country. From then, the Algeria war which had been lasted for eight years was finally over.This article mainly do the research on de Gaulle during his second ruling in Algeria until Algerian independence (June6,1958-July1962). In this period, we regard de Gaulle’s role in the Algerian independence as the core, and the policy of de Gaulle in Algeria as clues. We analysis that how did de Gaulle’s Algeria policy become passive and helpless retreat until he had to announce the independence of Algeria, In this article, the author will summarize and analyze the influencing factors of de Gaulle’s Algeria policy, and comment on the role of de Gaulle independent events in Algeria.The main body includes five parts, In chapter one, the author mainly discusses the development of the Algeria war and the background of the fourth republic’s collapse. After the collapse of the French fourth republic, the Algeria war became more intense. Frenchmen were in the danger of anarchy. Because of the victors status in world war ii, de Gaulle was considered as a hero of French. In this emergency time, de Gaulle came to power under the support of people. The second part mainly introduces why de Gaulle continue to carry the French’s fourth republic in the early years(" French Algeria "policy). This policy made the Algerians turned against him, caused war become more intense. The third part introduces Charles de Gaulle’s "French Algeria" policy failed, he changed to take the "Algerian self-determination" policy, this policy had provoked some Frenchmen’s horrible revenge to against de Gaulle and the Algerian. After a hard struggle, de Gaulle suppressed the domestic opposition, won the "right to self-determination" of Algerian. The fourth part expounds de Gaulle’s peace talk with Algerian. De Gaulle solved the problem of Algeria, in the form of talks and admitted the Algerian’s independence. The last part of the paper, the author comprehensively analyze on the influencing factors of de Gaulle’s Algeria policy, and identify the historical position of de Gaulle in Algeria independence events. As a result, the author thinks that de Gaulle is a hero and a great man in the history of France.
