With the further depth of China’s reform and opening up and acceleratingglobalization process, international communication and cooperation in all areas on theglobe scale has become increasingly frequent. All kinds of legal forms translation,such as contract, agreement, announcement, declaration, treaty and international lawsand regulations, have become an important part in international connection andcooperation. In order to improve study ability and get familiar with the newtranslation field, the thesis summarizes what has been learned in the process oftranslation of the Property Law Act1958Victoria. AU. It includes five parts, which istranslation project profile, General description of the translation process, analysis oflanguage features, case analysis and summary.Firstly, the thesis gave a brief introduction and a general description of thetranslation project in the first two chapters. The Property Law Act1958Victoria. AUwas released by The Victorian Law Reform Commission, and the one being translatednow was a modified version in2008. The task was started with searching related data,learning legal knowledge in groups. There appeared various difficulties in the processof translation, but under the direction of the supervisor and the help of group members,all of those were solved. And then finished the proofreading, the whole work finallyfulfilled. In addition, translation principles were summarized and illustrated one byone, including the principle of accuracy and precise, easy and clear, consistency andnormalization. The third chapter mainly makes a shallow analysis of the languagestructures and features, and expounds them from words and syntax.Chapter IV is the main part of the thesis, case analysis was made in this chapter,from which translation theories were summarized, including domesticating translationand explanatory translation. The analysis and summary of domesticating translationmade from two aspects: vocabulary and discourse. As for explanatory translation,many legal principles were used to illustrate. In addition, there are many commonlyused legal terms in the Property Law Act1958Victoria. AU, so the thesis summarizedthe translation methods of typical words and sentence patterns in the last two sections of the chapter.The last chapter is a summary chapter, which make a conclusion of thedifficulties appeared in the process of translation, including aspect of academic aswell as psychological states. In the end, the thesis prospected the further learning andlife.
