Mr. Chen Wangdao puts forward rhetorical theory that possess prospective, initiative and fundamental through researches rhetoric based on deep materialist dialectics, linguistic and encyclopedical subjects knowledge. Chen Wangdao’s rhetorical theory mainly reflected in his works "The Origin of Rhetoric", this book established a new and systematic rhetorical theory, which take into account both classical Chinese and vernacular Chinese. This book is China’s first systematic rhetoric works that transformed Chinese rhetoric study from traditional rhetoric to modern rhetoric. The original intention of Mr. Chen Wangdao writes "The Origin of Rhetoric" is to fulfill rhetoric requirements which reflected Mr. Chen’s rhetoric ideas. This paper is explored Chen Wangdao’s rhetoric teaching ideas that based on "The Origin of Rhetoric" and present rhetorical teaching.This thesis is divided into five chapters:The first chapter is the introduction. This part elaborated the reasons for selecting this subject. Secondly, the author does literature review about Chen Wangdao and Chen Wangdao rhetoric ideas. Then, the writer definited related concepts about thesis. Finally, the author briefly introduced research methods during the study. The Second chapter is an overview of "The Origin of Rhetoric". At the First part mainly explores creation process of "The Origin of Rhetoric" from the educational practice foundation, the background and Chen Wangdao years of hard work, etc. The second part sketch out materialistic dialectics and Saussure’s language theory are two mainly theoretical bases in "The Origin of Rhetoric". The third part explained the main rhetoric ideas in "The Origin of Rhetoric", there are words and phrases adjusting theory, language standard theory, theme situation theory, two dividing line of language theory and Chinese style theory, etc. The third chapter analyzed rhetoric teaching aims in improving student language competence, which through analysis relation of rhetoric and language, to investigate present students using language level, combining with Chen Wangdao’s "The Origin of Rhetoric" rhetoric ideas. The fourth chapter discussed rhetoric teaching content of "The Origin of Rhetoric", including oral and written rhetoric, positive and negative rhetoric, linguistic characteristics and language style. Chapter five discussed rhetorical teaching process of "The Origin of Rhetoric", which including focusing on combining with positive rhetoric and negative rhetoric, emphasizing interdisciplinary bunch and rhetoric intersect, emphasizing context limiting role in the rhetorical teaching process.
