A Translation Study On Lean In From The Perspective Of Skopostheory

Functionalist Translation Theory rose and gradually deepened in the1970s. As one of the representative personages, Hans Vermeer proposed Skopostheory. He believes that translation behavior is a kind of cross-cultural communication with purposes and interpersonal relationships. His Skopostheory freed translation studies from the restriction of the source-text-oriented theory. According to the text type theory, the paper briefly analyzes the features of the original text and its cross-cultural communication purpose, and further discusses Skopostheory’s applicability in the source text. On this basis, the paper, integrating the author’s translation practice, concludes translation strategies from three levels of words, sense groups and discourses according to the theoretical guidance of Skopostheory’s three principles on Lean In. The paper is divided into five chapters. The introduction part summarizes the theoretical basis of translation and the significance of Lean In; literature review elaborates domestic and international research achievements on Skopostheory, focusing on Vermeer’s concept of translation and the proposal of Skopostheory; chapter three analyzes the source text and Skopostheory’s applicability in it; chapter four is the analysis of the translated work under the guidance of Skopostheory, developing from three levels of word translation strategies, sense group translation strategies and discourse translation strategies; chapter five concludes the paper’s general content.
