Literature periodicals is able to continuingly reflect regional societies and cultures of different historical periods. It’s literary expression effect surpasses any conventional single pieces literature in terms of range and tensity. However, such features of literature periodicals makes it relatively harder to be studied. Because of that, the studies in literature periodicals, that in those published in "the Culture Revolution" in particular, have been inadequate for a very long time in past. The literature periodical, founded in1970s, has been being published from then on and remains to be one of the most significant literature periodicals in the region of Guangzhou and Guangdong. In1970, it embodied the propositions of the main stream radical literature and followed the aesthetic standards of "the literature for labors, peasants and soldiers" and comprehensively exhibited various forms and charms of Chinese literature in1970s. Nevertheless, nothing of the associated studies completed in that can been witnessed and neither thesises nor dissertations about that can be mentioned until now. This is not satisfactory to the development of a cultural Guangzhou. Through intergrating, analyzing and assessing1970s’"Guangzhou Literature", the thesis attempts to contribute a remarkable sign of historical process of local literature development and to offer historical reference for the culture construction of the locals. As a postgraduate in the program of Chinese Contemporary literary creation and criticism, I feel myself having the responsibility of collecting and integrating these materials to reveal the meaning and values left to us from the Periodicals. The first chapter specifically explains the creation of "Guangzhou Literature" through analyzing the positioning and the political cultural background. The second chapter summarizes "Guangzhou Literature"s propositions in art in the creation period by analyzing its’theories papers and works and its’ interpretations of Mao Zedong’s "the Speech in the Yan’an Literature and Art Symposium" and Lu Xun.The third chapter introduces its’major standards of writing including the "3featuring" writing method and writing principles of the "amateur writers from labors, peasants and soldiers"The fourth chapter interprets the literary criticism of "Guangzhou Literature" in that period generally in terms of major content and criteria. The thesis makes classifications, analysises and studies in the creation, the values for art and the standards of writing as well as the literary and art critism on literary characters, of the literature periodical "Guangzhou Literature", base on historical materials. The study on "Guangzhou Literature" concludes that the periodical was created for "main stream" political purpose and the books of displaying and representing the shifts of the main stream ideology. With the purpose of eulogizing "the Proleteriat Culture Revolution" and the reference of Mao Zedong’s "the Speech in the Yan’an Literay and Art Symposium", the periodical made various literatures with the writing standards of the Culture Revolution, regarded "making heroic figures of labours, peasants and soilders" as major, and served for political struggle and he Culture Revolution. As a summary of studies above, it is conclude that1970s’"Guangzhou Literature" runed for "main stream" politics, reflecting main stream ideology and representing its’directions.
