Voice is the material shell of a language. In communication, language is used toconvey information, while voice is used to receive information. Whether the voice is goodor bad has a direct influence on the language acquision. Foreign language learners’language level can be reflected from the pronunciation accuracy.With the rapid development of Chinese economy, the status of Chinese languagegradually increases in the world. For more and more international communication withEuropean and American countries, the number of Chinese leaners whose mother languageis English also increases. Therefore, a lot of problems in Chinese teaching and learning aregradually revealed. This paper focuses on the Chinese pronunciation errors of nativeEnglish speakers. We collect the speech samples by questionnaires, and use SpeechAnalyzer to analyze the causes of errors. Based on these analyses, some practical teachingstrategies are put forward for Chinese phonetic teaching for native English speakers.In order to know the the root cause of the pronunciation errors, the analysis of errorcauses is started from the comparison of English and Chinese phonetic system. In addition,we also discuss the subjective and objective factors, which affect learners’ pronunciationlearning, including the learning environment, teachers, teaching materials and the learnersthemselves. On the basis of predecessors’research and the author’s teaching experience, wesort out the basic principles of phonetic teaching, and put forward some teaching strategiesto optimize the Chinese teaching and learning environment. We hope that through theabove research, we can make contributions to the Chinese phonetic teaching for leanersfrom English speaking countries.
