Translation is a process of travel, which travels from the world of one language to another; at the same time, translation is a process of interpretation, which is the fusion of the author’s and the reader’s horizons. The realization of these two processes needs the translator’s transform; therefore, the translators play an irreplaceable role during the translation process. However, this special position of translator was not paid much attention to at first but went through the phases from "servant","invisibility","transparence" and "translators are traitors", and finally the translator’s subjectivity was recognized. Later translator’s subjectivity has become a new perspective in the translation circle. No matter whether we admit the fact or not, translator’s subjectivity does exist and plays an irreplaceable part from selecting translation material, understanding the material to expressing the material. As an excellent translator and translation theorist, Xu Yuanchong gains his popularity both at home and abroad for his productive translation works and his translation theory--Art of Beautifulization and Creation of the Best as in Rivalry. Shijing, as the Chinese culture gem and a Confucian classic, has ruled Chinese people’s thought for thousands of years. Its advocacy of the connotation, four-character form and catchy tune determines that it should first become the attention of the whole world. Therefore, the English translation of Shijing has become the effective approach for the dissemination of Chinese culture and the necessary bridge for the communication between China and western countries. On the basis of large quantities of previous study, this thesis would like to study from the tiny clue of Xu Yuanchong’s translation theory to analyze Xu Yuanchong’s Three Beauties Principle in his English translation of Shijing from the perspective of the translator’s subjectivity. This thesis exerts the method of combination of theory and practice to manifest Xu Yuanchong’s Three Beauties Principle in his English translation of Shijing by showing some poems from Shijing. Finally it comes to the conclusion that we should on the one hand affirm and respect the creativity and subjectivity of the translator, and on the other hand, should not overemphasize their subjectivity. Translators should not only break the self imprison and walk out of themselves but also really satisfy their desire without going off the rails so as to make the translation works carry on the culture gem and gain the afterlife of the original work.
