Both Chinese and English have attributive in their own grammar system. Chinese belongs to the Chinese Sino-Tibetan language system, which make use of the word order and function words to express the grammatical meaning. While English belongs to the Indo-European language system. There are a lot of differences on attributive word order between Chinese and English. The errors of attributive word order often occur when the students of English-speaking background start to learn Chinese. The paper starts from the previous studies on modern Chinese attributive word order, sorts and summarizes the research results on noumenal Chinese word order and the one aimed at teaching Chinese as a second language, and describes the theories used in the paper, including error analysis theory, interlanguage theory and contrastive analysis theory. It has made a comparative analysis about single and multiple attributive between Chinese and English. It also studies the differences of attributive word order between Chinese and English from the perspective of different thinking method.Based on the HSK Dynamic Composition Corpus, the author collects the attributive word order errors of the students from the United States, Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and India. According to S.P Corder’s Error analysis method, the author divides all the errors into three types:single attributive word order errors, multiple attributive word order errors and structural particle "de" word order errors, and give them a detail description. It explores the causes of errors from three aspects, including negative transfer of mother tongue, the influence of thinking method of English and the inaccurate knowledge of Chinese grammar rules. At last, the author proposes teaching suggestions as followed:firstly, pay attention to the comparison between Chinese and English, minimize the influence of negative transfer of mother tongue; secondly, follow the regular succession of second language acquisition, teach Chinese progressively. Currently, there are few researches on Chinese attributive word order errors of English background learners.
