There have always been good realations between Mongolia and China. In last yearspolitical, economical and other relations have also been developing very well. Since1975Chinese has been officialy taught at mongolian state universities. Sincethat timethe Chinese has gained a very high position in the mongolian education system. Chinesehas gained popularity especially in recent years and is being taught at many universities,high schools as well as elementary schools. There has been a significant change in allaspects of Chinese education. However, lately there has been a serious problem inChinese listening comprehension teaching at Mongolian universities, as students areunable to improve their listening abilities by attending the listening comprehensionclasses. Some students consider their listening skills good, however when they arrive inChina, they usually find out that they can’t understand what Chinese people are saying,which has a huge impact on their ability to engage in daily communication. In our thesiswe want to tackle this problem by using the audio-visual method. Our research will befocused on intermediate Chinese listening comprehension classes at Mongolianuniversities. We will conduct research with quite traditional methods as well as with theaudio-visual method.In the first chapter we will focus on our goal and the merit that our research willbring, as well as on the object of our research and our research methods. Here we willalso analyze te overall situation of the audio-visual method and Chinese listeningcomprehension teaching. The second chapter focuses mainly on the pros of theaudio-visual method in Chinese listening comprehension classes: How to increasestudent’s interest, efficiency of teaching and how to include chinese culture in theteaching process.In the third chapter we will analyse results of a survey we have conducted at Mongolian universities in intermediate Chinese listening comprehension classes. Firstly,we will explain our questionaire, secondly we will have a close look at the current stateof intermediate Chinese listening comprehension classes at Mongolian universities. Thispart will have three sub-parts. Survey of the effectivity of Chinese listeningcomprehension classes; survey of requirements directed on the listening comprehensionclasses textbooks; survey of requiremenets directed on the audio visual teaching model.Thirdly we will analyze a survey concerning intermediate Chinese listeningcomprehension classes at mongolian universities. In the fourth chapter we will design ateaching model to the usage of audio-visual method in intermediate Chinese listeningcomprehension classes at mongolian universities. We will focus on class set up, students,teaching principles, goals of teaching, content and teaching methods. We will alsoprovide concrete examples.
