Ying Shangneng’s Art Life And Vocality Theory Study

Ying Shangneng is a representative of musicians in our country that first and directly introduce Bel Canto and the theoretical knowledge of the system in the first half of twentieth Century, he made a indelible contribution to the development of Chinese vocality art career.The vocality art career of our country with the rising trend of development cannot do without bedding and inheriting at different periods of time. We now come to realize the necessity to extracting useful value from the musician predecessors and its history. And Yingshangneng considered as a popular research object is just in recent years.We study the previous theory,whether modern or ancient writings, we can see the wisdom also has the most direct contrast in current times.Previous experience has the meaning of linking between past and future,then we keep enriching and extending connotation.In the time river of understanding and interpretation,the previous theory not only has current practical significance but also the vision of the future.Besides,we find a lasting significance through a reflection process of previous experience,in which we can say its value is infinite.By good chance that I had a opportunity to take Ying Shangneng as a research subject. I found some very useful components linking to actuality and combining with my own experience and had the extended rethinking.At the same time it reflects some problems of teaching process in collegesThe most representative and creative part of Ying Shangneng’s theory of vocality art is "voice directed by the words".His daughter helped to publish this book,which became the main study object of his theory. But it is not a representative of the whole vocality music theory of his.A reflection of the "Voice directed by the words"theory is in the collision of Chinese and western music culture,he had the thought about relation between Chinese and Western singing,that is combining the vocal rules of the Western tradition of Bel Canto with the characters of chinese lauguage.He summarized as the "voice directed by the words"theory.In addition,the vocality teaching theory is also a very important part of his theory.This paper didn’t deliberately mean to define the objective formation of his theory,but take it as a whole instead to form my own understanding framework.This paper at first plan to know integrity of the research object from the collected literature as far as possible. Confirming the direction of the reserch through location with open eyes is also the basis and source for the content of my paper. Through previous studies and based on historical materials, I’m trying to systematically and accurately analyse Ying Shangneng’s art life,which is the first part of my paper.In another part which is the most important part, I combined my accumulation in the process of learning with some shining points of Ying Shangneng’s vocality theory selectively to comparatively analyse.I also extended to put forward some thoughts of my own considering our actuality, trying to explore its significance of the present.
