In modern Chinese language, the Measure Word has a very important position, is also a partof speech that when foreigners study Chinese language, errors occur often. Measure Word is oneof the difficulties of teaching Chinese language for foreigners. The author chose differentlearners in an Indonesian private university as the research object, using combined methods ofquestionnaires and interviews; this research survey is about the situation of learning MeasureWord of Chinese language for Indonesian students.This thesis is divided into four chapters. The main contents are as follow as;The first chapter describes the topic of origin, significance, and the current situation of theresearch and research methods, etc.The second chapter is to research and analyze the situation of Indonesian students studyingMeasure Word. This section describes the range of the research, the object and the design ofquestionnaire, and the detailed analysis of the survey result. The basis of this researchcomprehensively considered the frequency in use of Measure Word and the usage conditions ofMeasure Word in Indonesian language, the author selected27top class measure words and9thesecond class measure words from “the Outline of HSK vocabulary”(try out), planed three kindsof questions that are multiple-choice questions, true or false, and fill in the blanks, also selected76students of the Department of Chinese language in Binus University in Jakarta, Indonesia asthe research object. The research results’ analysis shows, Indonesian students that do not knowsome Chinese measure words and do not understand some Chinese measure words usage wellexist.The third chapter is that analyze error types and its causes that Indonesian studentsproduced in process of learning Chinese measure words. This section is based on the analysis ofthe above survey results, summarized the errors occur often when Indonesian students learnChinese measure words, including generalization of the use of measure word “ge”, omission andmisuse of measure word, homophone Measure Words mix, and emerge incorrectly writtenMeasure Words; and the cause of errors while Indonesian students learning Chinese MeasureWords, the main causes are affected by interference of the use of Indonesian Measure Words,interference of Chinese language knowledge that has been learned before, and incomprehensiveteaching materials, etc. The fourth chapter discusses some effective teaching strategies to promote Indonesianstudents leaning Chinese Measure Words. Through comparing teaching Indonesian and ChineseMeasure Words, teaching at different levels, the use of meaning feature of Measure Words helpsunderstanding of teaching strategies and helps and promotes Indonesian students learningChinese Measure Words.
