Globalization enhances international academic communication, following this trend,language contact becomes more frequent, also in this domain language use andlanguage attitude turn into one of the hottest issues sociolinguistics has concerned inrecent years. The research about university students’ capacity in internationalacademic communication is one of the key research fields in educational linguisticsThe purpose of this research is to investigate among Shanghai bachelor, master’s,doctoral students in language use and language attitude in international academicexchanges, to explore the academic group, their English attitude in the future. Thissurvey is based on the internet, specific to university students in Shanghai, differentschools represent different groups. Respondents come from undergraduates todoctoral student who will graduate soon, a total of about120. Survey data wereanalyzed by SPSS software. Results indicate that most students actively participate inthe international academic communication, and feel satisfied with their condition inusing English, but the consciousness for their own language identity is not enough.Through data analysis, this paper also finds that multiple variables of "gender","professional","way of participation in international academic communication","grade" affect Shanghai university students’ language attitude, and show differentdegrees of variability. In the end, the research proposes some advices andcountermeasures regarding how to promote and improve international academiccommunication capacity among university students.
