This paper uses the visualization software Citespace to sort out and summarize the research results of relevant academic development since the reform and opening up.With images and diagrams,it presents the overall development and evolution characteristics of international academic research on Chinese language education in an objective and comprehensive manner.Combined with its clustering and inductive thinking,it further reveals the key turning points and inner relationships in the evolution of knowledge in the field of international Chinese language education scholarship, more thoroughly grasps the research pulse of international Chinese language education scholarship, and reveals its research status from multiple dimensions. The research findings are as follows:First, the international Chinese language education academic literature has gradually developed from basic pedagogical research to reviews and critiques of pedagogy and teaching materials,as well as research on new pedagogies, such as output-oriented methods. It has developed steadily and continuously from the period of the foundation of the discipline to the stage of the period of great academic development and the stage of the new period of academic development.Second, there is a lack of cooperation between universities and institutions, and the phenomenon of "one super and many strong" has emerged, with the main force of issuing articles being education and teacher training universities, and universities have their own research directions, while Beijing has the absolute advantage of issuing articles.Although the development of academic journals has reached a certain level, the number of articles issued has not yet reached saturation, and there is still more room for growth.Fourth, there is a lack of cooperation among authors and the authors are unstable and mobile, with few highly productive authors.Although representative authors have emerged continuously, the number is still not enough, and there is not much cooperation among authors, and most of the authors who have cooperation are in the Beijing area.Fifth, the direction of academic research on international Chinese language education in China has begun to lean toward professional expansion and cultural construction.Chinese language education, the "Three Teachings" issue and corpus-related research are some of the major hot topics.Hot keywords range from various teaching schools and cultural factors to bias analysis, mediated language and textbook research,to the latest"One Belt,One Road" and "Confucius Institute".The study reflects the shift of the research from ontological knowledge and teaching methods to the practical application of the profession and its external development, reflecting each footprint of the profession from the foundation to the new development stage. This study finds that although the academic development of international Chinese language education belongs to the stage of developing a new period, the overall academic development is not mature enough. We should improve the cooperation between institutions, especially the cooperation between Beijing universities and universities in other regions,so that "one super and many strong" can become "many super and side by side";increase the cultivation of academic talents, hold more academic conferences, increase the exchange and communication between scholars, and build a stable group of scholars. Many universities have already started to build their own corpus,so they can invite some experts to guide them and gather some students who are interested in corpus to build them together.Meanwhile, the construction of "One Belt,One Road" and "Confucius Institute" is an opportunity, but it also brings some challenges to international Chinese language education.
