Shuilu paintings is a kind of religious figures painting that comes from Jin,Yuan, Mingand Qing dynasty. It is an important method of Buddhist. The purpose of it is to release thedeparted soul and save ghost from the sea of misery. This study is based on Shuilu paintingsin Qinglong temple and Guangsheng temple,mainly take Qinglong temple as an example,verified the ritual of Shuilu paintings in the south of Shanxi province correspond with TianDiMingyang Shuilu Text rather than the Dharmadhatu of Saints and ordinary People ShuiluPurifieaton ritual strongly spread by the outside world.Dai Xiaoyun clains the concept of Shuilu paintings belong to Buddhism. It is a necessaryto investigate where the Shuilu paintings belongs to. The popular view of “the Shuilu paintingbelongs to the Buddhism can be proved evidently single–faceted by the view of “threereligions”,”the Folk gods” and so on. The “Bagua”and “Folk fairy” in Shuilu paintings can bea strong evidence to prove the professor Dai’s theory that where is some problems in“Buddhist Shuilu paintings”,Both from Taoism into the Buddha, and Confucianism,Buddhism, absorption of the subject cannot fully prove the amphibious painting is Buddhism.And the Taoism and the Confucianism Deity is the important theme for “Shuilu paintings”.The present study discusses the rule of Shuilu paintings from the aspects of content, structure,linellae and the colour. Nowadays, the Shuilu paintings in south of Shanxi province isimcomplete. At last, the author put forward two questions: one is the relationship between the“Taoism” and “tantric”, the other is the protection of Shuilu paintings.
