Guided by the theory of "Functional equivalence" of Eugene Nida, this thesis analyzed the skills of translating medical papers with examples in The Lancetfrom the perspectives of words and sentences.In the theory part, the thesis briefly introduced the theory of "functional equivalence" of Nida, analyzing the core concepts to leave a theoretic foundation for analyzing and evaluating the translation of The Lancet. In the part of literature review, the thesis introduced some ideas of former scholars studying medical translation.In the examples part, the thesis, with Nida’s theories, analyzed the translation skills of medical papers from the perspectives of words and sentences. Besides, the thesis quoted the Chinese and English versions of The Lancet as examples.After analyzing the examples, the writer concluded some basic skills to deal with some common words and sentences in medical papers. |
