The Analysis Of Weak People In Moliere’s Comedy

Moliere was the representative dramatist of comedy in17th century of France.He was not only a comedy dramatist,but also an actor and stage director.Moliere’s comedy almost touched every class of France.He expressed his democratic and equal ideas through his comedy.In the comedy,the weak people were outstanding,they were made of servants,attendants or pretending who were in a low status. Ho we ver,they were so bright that in the process of intelligence and courageous fighting with the powerful people,they showed the intelligence from the class of weak people entirely.This kind of people took an important place in Moliere’s comedy.They were the representatives from the lower class of17th century in France.Following them,we can see the wide society of Louis ⅩⅣ:the greedy for money of capitalist class,the decadent and decline of noble class.Moliere used his satirizing pen,through the so called lower class to show the so called upper class’s problem of that era.About Moliere’s research,our scholars have obtained a lot of achievements.These researches focus on the types of people and ideology of Moliere’s comedy.The main type of people were noble class and capitalist class.Up to now,the research of weak people in Moliere’s comedy is few.In Moliere’s comedy,the weak people plays an important role about constituting comedy’s function. This article is going to analyze the weak people in Moliere’s comedy,we’11classify them into different kinds according to different functions of comedy,and talk about the virtue of them.Then we’ll analyze the comedy function and effect of weak people in the comedy.Except the introduction, This article is divided into three sections:The first chapter "The inherit from predecessors and the uniqueness of Moliere’s comedy".This part is to analyze the influence of predecessors on Moliere and what’s the unique element in Moliere’s comedy.The second part is to classify different kinds of weak people according to their comedy function. There’re three kinds:the first one is to promote conflict.This kind of weak people is much more important than others.The second is "spokesperson".They are the spokesman of Moliere and the normal people of that era.The third one is comic type,their function is to entertain the audience.The third part is to analyze the comedy function and the comedy effect which were made by weak people.The comedy function includes four parts:overturning the authority(the overturn of capitalist class and the overturn of noble class),removing difference,constructing comedy situation and exposing personal relationships.The effect of comedy is how "laugh" come into being and the reasons (comic persons and embarrassing situations).Trough the exploration of this article,we find that the weak people was not only important in Moliere’s comedy,but the vivid social reflection of that era. Trough these weak people’s image,we saw the democratic thought of Moliere and the sprout of social democratic thoughts of France in17th century.These weak people were made from life by Moliere,they were significant to that era.
