Research On Chinese TV Sitcom

As a relatively young TV drama art style, Chinese TV sitcom presents strong vitality,many works of excellence gain applause and popularity though it doesn’t take a largeproportion of TV plays. The sitcom provides a visual feast of carnival to the mass through theexpression of various kinds of confusion and indignation in humor and the depiction ofeveryman’s dreams and embarrassment in ridicule in order to bring joys to the audience.Transplanted from USA, Sitcom has absorbed the essence of other art forms widely, andgradually developed a unique artistic style with its domestication in China.Based on many sitcoms researches and mainly in the perspective of aesthetics, this papercomprehensively analyzes Chinese TV sitcom through studying its narrative mechanism andthe cultural connotation in order to explore its future development trend. The main part of thethesis has three chapters: The first chapter is the brief introduction of sitcom, mainly throughthe description of the definition and feature of sitcom discusses its formation process in USAand domestication in China. The second chapter analyzes the narrative mechanism of ChinaTV sitcom, mainly focused on its narrative mode and humorous language. The third chapterexcavates the cultural connotation of China TV sitcom in the following3aspects: themainstream culture, traditional culture of China and Post-modernity culture.
