The concept of overinterpretation" comes from the contemporary Italian novelists,semiotics, Umberto Eco.Eco’s text interpretation theories include promoting openness, against excessive interpretation of interpretation that works, and emphasizes the interpretation of the historical dimension of three parts.Eco’s overinterpretation is an important problem in the text interpretation theory, associated with hermeneutics. First of all, the overinterpretation problems of Eco is closely related to hermeneutics, including represented by Schleiermacher’s universal hermeneutics of methodology, represented by Heidegger and Gadamer’s Hermeneutics and Thomas Aquinas’s theological Hermeneutics.Secondly,modern Italian traditional aesthetics of the interpretation openness and limited research has directly impacted;Finally,Eco on Joyce’s poetics and language forms such as asiatics, the literary language of Joyce impacted Eco’s theory directly.Eco admitted that,in the recent time of the literary researching,the interpreter’s rights have been magnified indefinitely. So the phenomenon of overinterpretation accordingly. There are three power of the phenomenon:Mysticism, Foreknowledge and Misreading. As the representative of overinterpretation, Eco puts forward a series of theories and concepts on this issue,including the recognize of authors,the realize of the readers and Textual intention to define reasonable interpretation and the overinterpretation.Eco is not only opposed to overinterpretation,but constantly discussed in his theory.He put forward the interpretation for the purpose of text to set the standard of limit,Textual intention performance between authors,readers,and text in the interpretation of the three constant interpretation of that debate principle of mediation.
