The Study Of ShengHua In Ancient Chinese Characters

The phenomena of ShengHua, as an important rule, appears in every step of the evolution of the ancient Chinese characters. By exploring ancient Chinese characters materials and analysing out the evolution of character shapes, the thesis uses the historical comparative methods to categorize the ShengHua and discusses types,caused reason,significances and related preoblems of ShengHua phenomena.This paper contains five parts.The first part is an introduction, which introduces the achievements of ShengHua research after it has been put forward as well as its current situation. It also states the research method and range of this paper.The second part is Types of ShengHua, this part is divided into three parts,which are shape-changed ShengHua,part-replaced ShengHua and add phonetic symbol. For each type there are some examples to illustrate it.The third part is the cause of ShengHua. It will be explored from the three aspects:language, writing and society. And the writing factor will be researched by stages.The fourth part is the discussion of some related issues. ShengHua appeared in the evolution of Chinese characters, so it must be connected with other rules, which will be discussed in this part.The fifth part is the conclusion and value of this study. The study of ShengHua makes clear the structure and evolution rules of ancient Chinese characters. And it will also help to recognise and explain the ancient Chinese characters. In addition, by comparing different shapes of the Chinese characters, it will give us a new understanding about the book Shuo Wen Jie Zi.
