China and Japan are close neighbors, and the long history of their cultural exchanges can be dated back to Paleolithic Age. Through the ages, the two nations have been learning culture essences from each other, creating the East Asian culture circle with Korea and North Korea, which is one of the civilization and science centers in the world. This paper attempts to study the interrelationship of the two cultures from the perspective of loanwords on the basis of previous researches and abundant information and documents.This article consists of three parts, according to the organizational structure can be divided into the following several aspects:The first part is the introduction, expounds the general characteristics of the research, including the reason for the choice, the research status and methods, etc..The definition and types of loanwords, the relationship between loanwords and cultural exchanges are the key of this part.The second part including first, second and third chapter is the main part of the paper, first of all, it introduces the exchange and integration about sino-Japanese culture, the appearance and spread of the loanwords and so on. Then it introduces the phenomenon of Chinese and Japanese words borrowed from each other, such as the development reasons and processing of loanwords both in Chinese and Japanese, their classifications, status and roles. Finally, it make a detail introduction and analysis about the role of loanwords that as a mirror in the exchange of Chinese and Japanese cultures, the contents including the problems which the loanwords reflected in each of the two different languages.The third part is the conclusion part, mainly introduces the loanwords reflected the process of the cultural exchange and development between China and Japan, summarized the research achievements of this paper, the ralationship between loanwords and teaching Chinese as a foreign language and illustrates the role of loanwords such as Chinese words in Japanese or Japanese loanwords in Chinese international education.
