Ten-year war against terrorists have not re-established the peace and stability inAfganistan. However, a large part of region along with the border between Afghanistanand Pakistan has been embroiled in continuous wars and conflicts. To get a clearersense of the issue, I will make a comparison between Taliban in Afghanistan andTaliban in Pakistan from four parts: the emergence of Taliban in Afghanistan andTaliban in Pakistan and the internal and external reason for it; the organizationalcharacteristics of Taliban in Afghanistan and Taliban in Pakistan, in which I willanalyse the ideology, the selection of members and the organizational structure ofTaliban in Afghanistan and Taliban in Pakistan; the ways of its function, strategy andthe relations with the other extreme organizations and the relations between Taliban inAfghanistan and Taliban in Pakistan; and the future trend of Taliban and the impact tothe region caused by Taliban in Afghanistan and Taliban in Pakistan. The different andconnected relations of the two organizations and their complicate and effectiveorganizational characteristics make the war against terrorists more harder and thesecurity condition in this region more severe. Considering domestic and external factorswhich the two Taliban greatly depend on, it is hard to root out the extremeorganizations such as Taliban if purely military forces be used, and we must adhere tothe principle of addressing both symptoms and root causes and taking comprehensivemeasures. If the governments in Afghanistan, Pakistan, the US and even theinternational society cannot get a clear understanding of the situation and formulatemore reasonable policies, I think we can safely assume that this grim situation willcontinue.
