The Fromm and Berlin’s freedom theory are analyzed in this article.Thisarticle express Fromm’s thought of freedom in many ways,such as freedomis a psychological problems, human and social adaptation, the dualinfluence of freedom on people, religious reform and the contemporaryfreedom,, freedom of the mechanism and how to overcome the negative senseof freedom. Fromm thinks that the modern people need freedom more thanany time. However,they did not enjoy the real freedom. Instead,theyescaped from freedom. This result is caused mainly by social andpsychological pressure. On one hand, people own more and morefreedom,they have more and more critical spirit. At the same time, theyare more and more isolated, lonely, not worth mentioning, incapable ofaction. On the other hand, escaping from loneliness is the inherent humanfactors. Fromm thinks that the main mechanism of escaping from freedomis authoritative, destruction and mechanical convergence. He alsodistinguishes between negative freedom and positive liberty. This paperanalysis Berlin in such ways: the positive and negative liberty, freedomof self realization, pluralism thought. Berlin distinguishes betweennegative freedom and positive liberty, he thinks that " negative liberty"is the area for individuals to act without interference from others."Positive freedom" means the individual life and the choice is made bythemselves rather than by any alien decision factors. He highly praisedthe negative freedom. But Berlin’s negative view of freedom also containsinternal crisis. At the same time, the article also compare the two freetheory. They all think that freedom is divided into positive and negativeliberty.This article emphisis analysis the difference in fouraspect,such as two kinds of free concepts, focus on two kinds offreedom,the different ways to reach freedom, theoretical contribution anddefect.
