Yun Daiying was a renowned China’s theorist, revolutionist, political activist, educational practitioner and guide of the youth movement. Though his life was short, he made distinguished contributions to our country’s revolutionary cause and civic education cause. His thoughts and studies involved various fields like politics, economy, military, culture, etc., all with great achievements. While stating his civic education thought, he also practised it earnestly and personally for young students. Under this new historical circumstance, studying Yun Daiying’s civic education thought, based on the reference for the previous research results, will help us to become a qualified citizen rationally and will also have guiding significance on our civic education researches.This thesis discusses Yun Daiying’s civic education thought mainly from the following seven chapters.Chapter one is an introduction to Yun Daiying’s whole life and major factors that influenced his civic education thought. This part is mainly about Yun Daiying’s practice experiences from his birth to his schooling, to his work and then to his joining the Communist Party of China. In the first chapter, it is also showed that affected by different factors in each phase of his life, Yun Daiying’s thought went through a transformation process of four stages:accepting, questioning, abandoning and re-accepting, which made a good preparation for his civic education thought.The second chapter is devoted to the democratic education thought. It systematically analyses, induces and summarizes Yun Daiying’s thought and practice of his anticipant true democracy from three aspects:democratic family education, democratic school education and democratic society education.In chapter three, the focus is rights and oligations education thought. This part illustrates Yun Daiying’s thought and opinion on rights and obligations to make people know that a qualified citizen should be brave to fight for and enjoy his own rights, and at the same time carry out his obligations.Chapter four is to demonstate freedom and equality education thought. It introduces that Yun Daiying’s thought of freedom and equality is to educate people to get rid of superstition and equip them with the idea that men are equal and marriages should be free.The fifth chapter focuses on moral education thought. Yun Daiying maintained that as a qualified citizen, one should ceaselessly enhance his self-cultivation as well as sociality-cultivation.In chapter six, patriotism education thought is the key point. In Yun Daiying’s opinion, a qualified patriot ought to oppose arguments but propose actual efforts to save the nation bravely.The last chapter summarizes the inspirations of Yun Daiying’s civic education thought on ideological and political education. Through the analysis and summarization of his civic education thought, this part sums up the inspirations of this thought on democracy, freedom and equality, rights and obligations, moral traits as well as patriotism.
