Research On Rural Migrant Workers In City Political Participation On The Spot

Political participation is a basic civic right，also one of the most importantchannels for citizens to express their requests. However, migrant workers’politicalparticipation in the countryside could not meet citizens’ need of interest expression,with the interests relationship between migrant workers and rural areas becomingmore and more estranged. In contrast, the requests relationship between migrantworkers and cities becoming tighter, and migrant workers have shown greatenthusiasm for participating in city’s politics. The article analyses the necessity,feasibility and significance of migrant workers’ political participation in city, anddraws a firm conclusion. I think it is of great theoretical and practical significance forus to bring migrant workers’ political participation into city’s institutionalizedcategory. However, today the actualities of migrant workers participate in city’spolitics is marginal. Incorporate is as follows: First, the rate of migrant workersparticipate in resident committee’ election is very low; Second, the effect of systemabout peasant worker to represent is not satisfactory; Again, migrant workers areexcluded from various social groups; In addition, the means to express migrantworkers’ concerns are dearth; Finally, migrant workers have little opportunity tocontact with city’s politics. If consider from attitude, manner and motivation, theactuality of migrant workers participate in city’s politics has following characteristics:zest for politics co-exists with political apathy; self-interest is paid close attention to;non-institutionalized participation has amplified phenomenon, etc. Through theanalysis, it’s easy to find out that the difficulty of migrant workers politicalparticipation is based on several factors: First of all, biased omission of the politicalsystem; Second, the lack of request expression organization; Third, the influence ofcity departmentalism; The last part, the restriction of migrant workers abilities.According to the reasons of the existing problems, this paper suggested fourcountermeasures in order to improve the proceed of migrant workers politicalparticipation as: eliminate the system defect, strengthen the organization basement,enhance the consciousness of balancing urban and rural development, improvemigrant workers comprehensive quality.
