A Study Of The Relationship Between The Religious Experience And Criminal Behavior Of Prisoners

Based on the literature review and the results of the interview, with half open questionnaire survey of prisoners, This research revised Undergraduate’ Religious Experience Scale by ChenQin into Criminal Religious Experience Scale. This research compile Criminal behavior questionnaire. After item analysis, exploratory factor analysis of screening questions, and finally the formation of the formal questionnaires have good reliability and validity:"The Religious experience of Criminal "and "The Criminal behavior questionnaire".In this study, these two questionnaires to understand the prisoners of religious experience and criminal behavior to the status, and discussed the relationship between the two. The main results present as follows:1) The religious experience of Criminal questionnaire has good reliability and validity, and the questionnaire consists of6dimensions and28items:Supernatural exist REs,Features of God、dej a vu experience, witchcraft、mysticism psychic experience、 celestial2) The criminal behavior questionnaire contains of7dimensions,29items,7subscales were as follows:apathy behavior、abnormal behavior、act of reprisals、 compliance behavior、the lucky psychology behavior、family behavior、impulsive behavior.. The questionnaire has good reliability and validity can be carried out follow-up study.3)The religious experience of criminal have no significant differences in the kind of criminal, but there are the significant differences in sexual distinction,age, different prisons, financial condition of different families, whether believing in religion or not of families,cause of criminal.4) The criminal behavior of prisoners have no significant difference in whether believing in religion or not, but there are significant difference in sexual distinction,age, different prisons, degree of education,age of believing in religion, whether believing in religion or not of families, financial condition of different families, cause of criminal and the kind of criminal.5) There are found significant relationship between the religious experience and criminal behavior. And deja vu experience and witchcraft have significant positive effects on the criminal behavior.6)The results showed that attribution of religious experience was in a significant mediating effect with religious experience and criminal behavior, The effect of attribution of religious experience on criminal behavior was partially mediated by religious experience,and the mediating effect made up48.7%of the total effct.
