The new generations of migrant workers following “the migrant workers tide”are the typical era meaningful groups. The rapid development of the economy andthe continuous progress of the concept speed up the conversion of the newgeneration of migrant, from the "city builders" to " city master ". Therefore, thesurvival status of the new generation of migrant workers is a major social concern.In this empirical research, social distance theory as a perspective is used to portray anew generation of migrant workers the real social life status.The investigation is including some related factors to social distance of thenew generation of migrant workers in the urbanization process. By comparing thetheoretical assumptions and survey data, author try to show social distance existedbetween the new generation of migrant workers in the city. These related five factorsare System status, cultural, social networks, spatial separation summarized as surveyaspects of social distance. Each factor is proposed corresponding assumptions, suchas the formal and informal institutional assumptions, prestige and similarityassumptions, education and traditional practices assumptions, the interaction modewith frequency hypothesis, occupation barrier and residence barrier assumptions.This paper is divided into four chapters. Chapter one is an introduction to thetopic of study like background, significance and research methods, including theinvestigation of the site and sample selection, data collection methods and detaileddescription of study factors assumptions. The second chapter analyses the socialintegration status of the new generation of migrant workers specifically. Chapterthird is about social fusion advantages of the new generation of migrant workers.Chapter five expound five factors of the new generation of migrant workers’ socialdistance, including institutional factors, economic status factors, cultural differences factors, social network factors, space barrier factors systematically,supported by two dimensions of a wide range of survey data between the newgeneration of migrant workers and urban residents. The last chapter as a summaryof the research is to promote the new generation of migrant workers fusion intourban society, reduce social distance and recommended policy innovation.
