The new generation of migrant workers has become the mainstream community of migrant workers. With the acceleration of the process of urbanization in China, the number of this group will be increasing. The current number of this group is close to 100 million. The appellation of "the new generation of migrant workers" appears at Central first document first time. This group causes wide and warm concern again. Compared with the first generation of migrant workers, the new generation of migrant workers has a higher life expectancy and a stronger sense of their rights. These characteristics cause social identity of the new generation of migrant workers tend to appear fuzzy. Social identity to a large extent affects a person's behavior and basic preferences. Fuzzy social identity is not conducive to a smooth integration into the social life for individuals. The study of social identity of the new generation of migrant workers has important practical significance.This study mainly used questionnaire survey, and depth interview as a supplement to collect data, and combination of quantitative and qualitative to analysis data. This study used the theory of social identity, as the example of the migrant workers in Shandong Province, described the social identity condition of the new generation of migrant workers from self-identity, city identity, local identity and future-identity and analyzed the affecting factors from the macro-institutional level and the micro-individual level. The study found that compared with the first generation of migrant workers, the social identity of the new generation of migrant workers has fallen into a dilemma:their self-identity emerged a fuzzy tendency, their local-identity showed a negative state, their city-identity have not been established, and confused about their future. The household registration system and the system of migrant workers in our country and some individual factors of the new generation of migrant workers constructed this social identity condition. This study further explored urban and rural integration building in our country and the future place for the new generation of migrant workers. The study thought that under the difficulty of the integration into the big city for the new generation of migrant workers, country town or the central town might become the place to go in future for the new generation of migrant workers.
