The International Military Education And Training Program Research

International Military Education and Training Program is an important part ofAmerican’s huge security assistance system. The program is implemented by the US StateDepartment and the Pentagon, and the targets of the program are emerging countries and thirdworld countries. The program is not only a simple foreign security assistance program, butalso pay its attentions to the spreading of American’s military standards and values, and has astrong attribute to America’s public diplomacy. It is a typical example of American’s Smartpower. The implementation of the program has positive effects to American’s military,political and economic interests.This paper includes three parts: Foreword, Text and Conclusion. In the Foreword, authorintroduced the significance of this subject, the present research situation and the researchmethods of this paper. In the Text, author focused on three aspects of International MilitaryEducation and Training Program. In the first, paper examined the development process ofInternational Military Education and Training Program, combines with American’sdiplomatic background of each periods. Secondly, paper examined the managementinstitutions and the projects of International Military Education and Training Program,revealed the mechanism of it. In the end, paper analysed the actual effects of InternationalMilitary Education and Training Program, explored the significant role of the program inAmerican’s military, economy and politics. In the Conclusion, paper surveyed the essence ofIMET program and then expounded the reference value for the construction of China’sinternational military education program.
