Research On Education-supporting Action Of Go West University Student Volunteer Service Plan In China

“Go West University Student Volunteer Service Plan”(GWP)is an innovative measureinitiated by our country so as to focus on alleviating severe employment situation of studentsand expanding teachers’ strength of compulsory education in the western areas. WesternTeaching Special Plan is of much importance in promoting the reasonable arrangement of thetalents resources between eastern and western areas, promoting the development of westerncompulsory education, cumulating human resources of western areas. In recent years, alongwith the development of Western Teaching Special Plan, the University Student Volunteers hasbecome outstanding teaching strength in western areas. But the plan is one of our country’sinnovations, and we have no other experience at home and abroad to learn. Therefore, the planhas many shortcomings in practice. Based on analyzing the implementation of “Go WestUniversity Student Volunteer Service Plan” in our country, the author analyzed the advantagesand disadvantages of Western Teaching Special Plan. In order to make up its disadvantages,the author further proposes some suggestions from the point of government, university,University Student Volunteers, companies and so on, to promote the plan normalizationdevelopment.The essay firstly introduced the origins of selecting the subject, the significance of theresearch, literature review, research ideas and frameworks. And then, the paper defined the keyconcepts of Western Teaching, volunteers and volunteer service, introduced Education EquityTheory, Human Capital Theory and Market Failure Theory. After introduced the status of GWP,the paper analyzed the situation of western compulsory education, based on the situation, thepaper analyzed the problems and deficiencies that existed in the process of voluntary servicecarried out during Western Teaching Special Plan. In the end, the paper proposed some suggestions to promote the development of Western Teaching Special Plan, including that thegovernment promote the Western Teaching Special Plan development by adding investments,improving the relevant supporting measures, adjusting compulsory teacher preparationstandards of western areas, constructing the training base of Western Teaching Special Plan,improving the training system and so on; the universities could promote the development ofthe Western Teaching Special Plan by increasing publicity, improving the recruitmentstandards, focusing on training of the volunteers, strengthening the construction of students’ideological and moral cultivation and so on; The volunteers should improve their own quality,strengthen self-construction, improve their service and ultimately they could realize their valueof life; at last the paper stressed that the various departments should achieve the developmentof the Western Teaching Special Plan together.
