Child labor has just been seriously paid attention to and problems related to it have been solved when progress of industrialization and urbanization has basically changed child labor relationship and increased danger to children. Although many governmnents have intervened to protect children since the nineteenth century, the situation has mainly changed as there has been much more close pledge between governments and education. It is a part of the process of developing to become a modern nation. However, there are a lot of difficulties in abolishing child labor and main arguments on this problem including unreasonable education for children to help them get elmentary jobs that the society reequires, necessary factor of child labor to bring welfare to poor families, maintenance of competition in some professions, difficulties in implementing laws on child labor because many enterprises participate in, and finally The State has no right in interfering families’desire related to the best things for their children.Today, Hanoi is in the process of economic development, but it is different from other industrial countries in the19th century. However, in my mind, historical experiences is still valuable to Hanoi. There are two important lessons learnt from these experiences:a. The government’s key role of abolishing child labor by passing laws on protecting children and freely giving basic education, universal education as well as implementing legal regulations on education and labour; bringing into play effect of educational policy in protecting children’s right. By means of educational policy, children have a chance to get a better life and escape from poverty and b. The necessity of improving capacity to change social environment like recognizing children’s right, being aware of long term impact on children’s health if they have to work soon. This will help legal regulations to be accepted and implemented efficiently.
