Abstract：Religion as a social ideology has been having a significant impact in theworld history since humans existed. Especially since2001,the world has undergonemany wars and conflicts related to religion, which seriously influences the world peaceand development. In modern world, no matter what country or whatever kind of socialsystem it is, religion will be subject to the attention of the ruling class. Attention toreligion, the study of religion, to guide the religious crowd to play an active role insocial development, is the world’s major issues and problems.China is a socialist country and also a multi-religious country. In2012, Chinesereligious beliefs "the White Paper" issued by the State Bureau of Religious Affairspointed out that "China is a multi-religious country. Religious believers believe inBuddhism, Taoism, Islam, Catholicism and Protestantism. Chinese citizens are free tochoose and express their own beliefs and clear their religious affiliations."So far, Chinais still in the primary stage of socialism, the root of the existence of religion has notcompletely eliminated, religion will still exist in socialist China for a long term.According to incomplete statistics, China’s religious population is more than300million, which is1out of4of the Chinese population. The crowd of believers is aspecial group that can not be ignored, they are an important part of the masses of thepeople and also an important force to build a comprehensive well-off society andsocialism with Chinese characteristics. We must strengthen the ideological and politicaleducation of believers, in order to guide and unite this part of the special masses ofthe people,and expand the patriotic united front,the empowerment of buildingsocialism; in order to safeguard national stability, national unity, reunification of themotherland, social harmony; in order to give full play to their great cause of building awell-off society and building socialism with Chinese characteristics in the wisdom andstrength.Firstly, define the religious crowd, then describe taxonomy, distribution andcharacteristics of the crowd of believers and analysise about the importance and urgencyto carry out the ideological and political education of the crowd of believers.
