Natural disasters occurred frequently in Ming dynasty. The governmentdistributed material to relief victims as well as aided currency for relief. This articlethrough the analysis found that with the deepening of the silver monetization,monetary relief way in Ming dynasty has experienced a period from copper and BaoChao to the later silver. This transformation reflects the economic influence to thesociety. It illustrates some specific issues such as the operating of silver relief, fundtransfers, purpose, etc. and also summarizes influence of the later period of Mingdynasty government’s adopting this way to relief. Then this paper draws a conclusionthat silver relief has played a positive impact, while there are a series of problems too.Combing with these issues, we could provide reference for the modern relief.
