Study On The Cultural Construction Of The Communist Party Of China

Against the current background of China being in the transition period for the comprehensiveand profound reform of politics, economics and culture, the cultural construction, has played animportant role of China’s social development along with the political construction, economicconstruction, social construction and ecological civilization construction. The Communist Partyof China (CPC) has set up a banner of advanced cultural ideology since the beginning of itsestablishment, especially Marxism; the collective leadership with Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping,Jiang Zemin, Hu Jintao and Xi jinping as the core has successively combined the basic principlesof Marxism with the reality of contemporary Chinese culture construction and creativity putforward the theory of socialist cultural construction with Chinese characteristics since the reformand open up, which not only inherits and promotes the Chinese fine cultural traditions but alsoblends the excellent foreign culture into the concrete practices of China. It has been emphasizedonce again in the Sixth Plenary Session of the17th Central Committee of the Communist Partyof China that: we must adhere to the path of cultural development under socialism with Chinesecharacteristics, deepen the reform of cultural administrative system, promote the greatdevelopment and prosperity of socialist culture, comprehensively carry out the spirits of the17thCPC National Congress, hold high the great banner of socialism with Chinese characteristics,take the Marxism-Leninism, Mao Zedong Thought, Deng Xiaoping Theory and the importantthoughts of “Three Represents” as the guidance, thoroughly apply the Scientific Outlook onDevelopment, persist in the orientation of advanced socialist culture, take the scientificdevelopment as the theme, the construction of core socialist values system as the fundamentaltask, the satisfaction of people with the spiritual and cultural needs as the starting point and goal,and the reform and innovation as the driving force, develop the national, scientific and popularsocialist culture oriented to modernization, the world and the future, cultivate the high sense ofcultural consciousness and cultural self-confidence, improve the cultural and ethical quality ofthe whole nation, enhance the national cultural soft power, carry forward the Chinese culture andstrive to build a socialist culture-powerful state.By applying the method of historical research, in view of the CPC’s development course, thispaper sorts out the historical process of the CPC’s cultural construction from the vertical aspect;besides, on the basis of grasping its fundamental development course, the paper analyzes thetheory and practice experience of cultural construction. In the context of the international economic globalization and political multi-polarization changes as well as the economic systemdevelopment in domestic market, the cultural construction is transforming from a unitary patternto comprehensive development along with the changes of the CPC’s historical task.The90-year development course of the CPC is also a process of continuous development andperfection of the CPC’s cultural construction which is built from nothing, little by little, fromweak to strong. There are both setbacks and progress during the process, which enables the CPCto take lessons from the failures, accumulate experience from the successes and gradually bringabout the development and prosperity of socialist cultural construction with Chinesecharacteristics. Whereas, new requirements and challenges have been brought up to the CPC’scultural construction due to the ceaseless changes of international environment, intensification ofreform and opening-up and the constant emergency of new social and economic organizations inthe socialist market economy.By integrating with the theory and practice experience of cultural construction, summarizingits features, the paper tries to explore the future cultural construction:(1) strengthen the CPC’sconstruction of ideology, organization and style;(2) enhance the national citizens’ quality andstrengthen the construction of ideology and morality;(3) realize the prosperity and developmentof cultural undertakings and industry, greatly promoting the cultural projects which will bebeneficial to the masses;(4) strengthen grass-roots cultural construction,and promote theharmonious development of society;(5) stimulate the cultural innovation and improve thevitality of cultural development.
