Research On Political Participation Of Rural Rear-support Women

Political democracy demands for direct or indirect participation in politics of thepublic, and the villager autonomy system reflects the development requirements ofChina’s political democratization, meanwhile,as a grassroots in implementation.Therefore,the pro-active political participation of the villagers has become an important criterion tomeasure the grassroots democracy, and meanwhile a significant symbol of rural areas towardmodernization.Since the reform and opening up, a large-scale relocation of male labor force from ruralareas has occurred with the urban and rural barriers gradually opened, hence, a unique andlarge group, namely Rural rear-support women, has appeared in the rural areas withrelatively backward economy. This group needs to undertake the family life on one hand, andtake part in the political life on the other hand. To solve the political participation of ruralrear-support women is not only related with their vital interests, but also promotes thepolitical democratization process in rural areas, and truly reflects the autonomy of the ruralsystem.This article is going to illustrate the concept of rural rear-support women, to describe thecharacteristics of them based on vulnerable-group theory, to take the theory of women’spolitical participation as the reference to rural rear-support women, and aiming at theproblems women encountered in political participation, based on fully understanding andusing the theory of women’s political participation at home and abroad for reference, to lookat the political participation of rural rear-support women in a new perspective, combined withthe development of the current situation in our country, that is, the political participation ofrural rear-support women under the perspective of democratic politics. Moreover, accordingto the requirements of the development of democracy, propose solutions to respectivelyimprove the awareness of political participation among rural rear-support women and theirqualities, as well as the social macro-environment, including by taking individual initiative to achieve self-learning and self-improvement, by improving the macro-environment to establisha variety of support systems, in order to help them get really involved and finally promote thedevelopment of democratic politics.Only on the basis of full understanding of China’s basic national conditions, combiningthe theory for reference with the practices of building a socialist harmonious society, andadjusting at all levels of the social development, could we solve the problems encountered byrural rear-support women in political participation, and further the development of democraticpolitics in our country.
