Research On Western Ecological Marxism

The Western Ecological Marxist is important emerging genre and the latest theoriesgrowth point in contemporary Western Marxism. On the one hand, the inheritance anddevelopment of Marx’s Ecological Thought initiate the Marx’s ecological horizon,which has important the theoretical contributions of boosting and developing Marxism;On the other hand, the deviation from the gist of the Marxist theory has negative effectson accurately grasping the essence of Marxist theory to some extent. Based on Marx’sEcological Thought and methodology, the thesis make critical research on the mainthought of Western Ecological Marxism aiming at analyzing theoretical contribution ofWestern Ecological Marxism in inheriting and developing the Marx’s EcologicalThought, meanwhile point out that misunderstanding of Marx’s Ecological Thought,which facilitate us to accurately grasp the essence of Marxist theory, perceive theecological value of Marxism, advance the sinicization of Marxism from the perspectiveof Marx’s Ecological Thought, and guide practice of ecological civilization constructionof socialism with Chinese characteristics.The thesis is divided into four chapters. Chapter one firstly states historicalbackground and theoretical origins of Western Ecological Marxism, then points out themain theoretical viewpoints and makes preparations for expounding the main body ofthe thesis. Chapter two analyzes the important contributions of Ecological Marxism inexploring and advancing the important contribution of Marx’s Ecological Thought,states the consistency of Marxism in essence. Chapter three states that WesternEcological Marxism deviated from the theme of historical materialism in the process ofdeveloping Marx’s Ecological Thought, and pointed out the misunderstanding of Marx’sEcological Thought, which can facilitate us to grasp the essence of Marxist theory fromboth positive and negative aspects, and have correct understanding of the contemporaryvalue of Marx’s Ecological Thought. Chapter four states that critical research andunderstanding of Western Ecological Marxism has the theoretical and practicalsignificance by means of combining China’s current development of Marxism andpractice of socialist ecological civilization construction.
