With the advantages of high efficiency, speed and accuracy, the machining center has been widely used in the industries of aerospace, construction machinery, ship, automobile and mold since it came out. Good dynamic characteristic is the key to achieve high-speed and high precision requirements. In this paper, order SGM50A horizontal machining center for the study, complete the following research around the dynamic analysis of machine and optimization of key components.Firstly, a simplified three-dimensional model of SGM50A horizontal machining center is built in SolidWorks, and then meshed in HyperMesh, the equivalences of characteristics of machine tool’s joints is emphatically studied, thereby the finite element model of SGM50A is established. After setting reasonable boundary conditions, the FET modal analysis and harmonic response analysis are done, comprehensive the results of both analyzes, the combination of surface and weaknesses which have great impact on the dynamic performance of the whole have been found, and it indicates the direction for the upcoming optimizing design.Secondly, the vibration modal of the SGM50A horizontal machining center is tested by hammering method, seven modal data has been got after analyzing and verifying the test data, which is compared with the FET modal analysis results according to the principle of the same frequency with the same vibration modes. The compared result with reasonable limits of error shows that the dynamic model is true.Finally, the column is optimized by the method of multi-objective optimization in the ANSYS Workbench, the column structure is further modified based on consideration of the actual production and the whole structure on the basis of the results of the software optimization, two methods of simulation and experiment has been used to validate the dynamic performance of the later column; then the bench is optimized, the Optimization program has been verified from two aspects of modal analysis and motion stability analysis.
