The modern machine tool is developing in high speed, high precision direction and the machine tools performance is more and more highly emphasized, so the research on the dynamic characteristics of machine tools is widely paid attention to.Through studying the theory and technology which is the relative vibration applied into the dynamic characteristics analysis in the machine tool structure, we have a modal analysis test on GQ1070gantry machining center to get the dynamic characteristics and weak links of the machine tools and have further analysis for the weak links. This paper mainly includes the following several parts:(1) Summarize the present research situation of the dynamic characteristics of the machine tools at home and abroad, introduce the main dynamic characteristics analysis method of machine tools, that is finite element analysis method and test modal analysis method.(2) Deduce the single-point excitation vibration and multi-support excitation modal model on the basis of the modal model of general viscosity damping system and finally get the modal model of this special vibration mode of relative excitation.(3) Have a modal test on the GQ1070gantry machining center in the relative vibration way, get the following dynamic characteristic parameters of first eight ranks of the machining tool by the application of STAR6.0modal analysis software:natural frequency, damping ratios and vibration modes. Every order vibration mode is described.(4) Get the main factors and weak links which affect the dynamic characteristics by an analysis of the dynamic characteristics of GQ1070gantry machining center according to the result of modal test, and further analyze the weak links.
