The foundation of implement public transport services efficiently is the reasonable hierarchy and network layout. The public transportation of trunk line includes the railway traffic, BRT, region public transportation of trunk line etc. They are the backbone of our public transport system, mainly providing fast, large capacity, high frequency of bus service for region traffic system; And the branch traffic and feeder bus mainly undertake the function of distribution, deep into the all kinds of public area and residential area in the city and providing the bus services for the residents economic and effectively, and it is the main body of the bus service which realize the coverage rate of service. The trunk line and branch line of public transportation should be connected fully and effectively. After judging the main traffic corridor in the city and build the main public transportation of trunk line, how to build the feeder bus lines effectively is an important content of transit network planning.First of all, on the basis of summarizing each level of public transportation system, this paper analyzed function orientation of the feeder bus, factors to influence feeder bus mode choice and analytical method of Mode choice behavior. Study on the influence boundary of station sites of public transit trunk line, selection of feeder line station, the layout mode of feeder line, the planning model of feeder bus network was discussed theoretically.Starting with the emergence and development of the new district from the outskirts of the city and taking rail transit as trunk line, the traffic demand characteristics of different types was analyzed aim at unattractiveness of public transportation in new district due to the low density of the network. Based on determining the influence boundary of station sites of public transit trunk line, selection of feeder line station, the layout mode of feeder line, the optimization model for the target of minimizing the system’s including operators’ and passengers’total cost was build. The optimal solution of the model was finding using matlab programming with genetic algorithm. Finally the case of planning the feeder bus network in Kunming Chenggong verified the feasibility of the method. The current situation of rural passenger transport was analyzed combined with the background of the urban-rural integration development. In view of opened but unable to retain of the rural passenger transport and taking line from county to township as trunk line, the line mode of regional circulating of diaspora villages was put forward. Then the optimization model for the target of minimizing the total running time of the regional circulating line was build. Also the optimal solution of the model was finding using matlab programming with genetic algorithm. Finally the case of planning the network from township to villages in Songming County verified the feasibility of the method.
