The economic development accelerates urbanization and motorization, which bringconvenience for the residents, and also increase the burden of city public transportation. Toeffectively alleviate the public traffic pressure and prevent waste of the constructionresource and road facilities, we must optimize the public transportation network based onthe need. Research on optimization of city transit network and guiding practice arefoundation to promote the potential of public transport development. In recent years, theoperation of urban rail traffic inevitably affects the flow and direction of the city traffic. Soresearch on bus line network adjustment and optimization of the affected district is pressing.The paper does a systematically analysis and research of the city public transportationnetwork optimization in-depth using the comprehensive comparison and the combination ofqualitative and quantitative methods, on the basis of the traffic engineering theory, takingthe present situation and the developing trend of city public transportation in our country asthe background. Firstly, the public traffic network structural function positioning andservice level after the entry of urban rail traffic are classified from the network structure ofcity rail transit, and the passenger flow attraction and sites attracting scope demarcation ofthe urban rail traffic is discussed with the reference of location theory. In determining thereasonable scale constraints of the overall line network, drawing lessons from the currentmethods and models, it uses heuristic progressive optimization method on the basis ofanalysis on the relationship between the ODs and directions of public traffic lines and railtraffic stops’ attracting range. The adjustment and optimization of the feeder bus linenetwork can be divided into three steps: the feeder point determination, station spacingoptimization and circuit layout, and it builds model with the "travel time" and "travel cost"as the goal function. Finally, the paper takes Zhaoqing as an example. It does a research onadjustment and optimization of the current and new added feeder bus line network inZhaoqing on the basis of the analysis on law of passenger flow after the entry of urban railtraffic.
