Golf sport has experienced relatively shorter developing time in China. Ev er since the first golf course having been established in1984, up to January2008it has officially opened the18-hole and above18-hole302golf courses,198golf driving ranges. And there are about100to200standard golf courses un der the construction. As ancillary facilities of the golf course, golf driving rang e usually serves as a warm-up place before the golf tournament, which is built within the stadium, and operated directly by the stadium management. Current ly, as we.mention golf driving range, it usually refers to the teaching and tra ining center with independent operation separated from the golf course. The rapid growth of the number of golf courses has greatly boosted the d evelopment of the whole golf industry, however, there are also many problems hidden behind the high-speed development. The Chinese government’s attitude on the construction of the golf course has gradually changed from support to r estrictions and prohibition. Studies have shown that the developing direction of the golf in China is gradually turned to the mass of civilians. With a series of advantages, such as small footprint, low price, wide sources and high profit, golf driving range is the representative of popularized golf course. Relevant the oretical researches on golf driving range in China are mainly concentrated upo n its developing prospects, however, basic plant landscape for a golf driving ra nge theories are almost indirectly from the golf course. Currently, independent researches relate plant landscape for a golf driving range are nearly blank. As the combination of qualitative and quantitative decision-making method, AHP (analytical hierarchy process) has been widely used in the evaluation of g arden plant landscape. In this paper, on the basis of an extensively in-depth st udy and referring to the relevant literature and the results of previous studies, by analyzing the similarities and differences of plant landscape in golf driving range and golf course, the author gives a further overview of the theoretical sy stem of the plant landscape in the golf driving range. Then through the field s urvey of plant landscape status of four golf driving range in Chengdu, from th e perspectives of moveability, landscape and maintainability, this paper summari zes certain problems in their plant landscape. Based on combining plant landsc ape design theory of golf driving range and field survey results, through consu ltation with relevant experts, it proposes three principles for the plant landscape in golf driving range, namely moveability, landscape and maintainability, to be regarded as qualitative indicators. The diversity of landscape can be considere d as quantitative indicator, by using AHP to establish the evaluation system for plant landscape in golf driving range. This system is consisted of target layer, type layer, criteria layer and indicators layer, among which includes12qualit ative indicators and4quantitative indicators.Based on the establishment of the evaluation system, this paper gives a pr e-evaluation on the plant landscape of ShuangLiu golf driving range, obtains a fairly good evaluation results. And thus the author puts forward some suggesti ons on the plant landscape design in golf driving range. Finally, this paper ana lyzes the weighting proportional relationship among the various indicators, and proposes the possibility of golf plant landscape classification. Currently, indepen dent researches relate plant landscape for a golf driving range are nearly blank. In this paper, it establishes the evaluation system for the plant landscape in g olf driving range. In theory, it provides some theoretical basis for future plant landscape design of the golf driving range, and enriches the golf plant landsca pe theoretical system. In practice, it provides certain reference for the new golf driving range development and transformation of the old driving range.
