As with investment and qualitycontrol, progress control is one of the basic contents and tasks in the project management; sometimes even is great important consideration when certain boundary conditions are constrained. The reformation that largethermal power plant’s sulfurization units carry out on old chimney’s titanium steel sheets belonging to this. The length of the project has a great effect on overall cost ofunits’overhaul and chimney reforming.In view of the actual needs of unit transformation onold chimney’s titanium steel sheets of China Resources Power Co. Ltd. Fuyang,the thesis analyzes what mainly influents the project’s duration and how to optimize it, according to the project duration optimization theory and method. The power plant puts the obtained findings and guarantee-measures into implementation; and then achieved good results in the chimney renovation project. The power plant, at the end, not only successfully realized the project objectives, containingsafety, quality, duration, and cost; but also created the world record for old chimney’s titanium-steel sheets transformation in the shortest time in domestic.This has a strong reference and guidance on reducing the cost and engineering time for later projects.Through above successful practice, the author believes thaton existing conditions of large heat-engine plant, there are still a lot of scope to optimize the desulfurization units transformation on titanium clad steel plate. Butmeanwhile, schedule management theory, measure and tool should be utilized; and projectobjectives on safety, quality, and cost should be guaranteed during the process. There are many approaches to schedule control right now.Based on the successfulpractice ofChina Resources Power Co. Ltd. Fuyang and personal opinion, the author hopes to provide a reference for heat-engine to transform chimney, to offer a method for optimizing duration. With thecontinuous practice and deepeningrelevantresearch, the heat-engineer’s chimney transformation method and procedurejoining will be more appropriate, and the time control will be more scientific.
