As a kind of important continuous conveyor equipment, belt conveyor iswidely used in industries of coal, steel, metallurgy, mining and pharmacy whichare closely bound up with national interest and people’s livelihood. Sincereforming and opening, all industries above make more requests on beltconveyor with the development of economy. Multiline-feed is imperative whichneeds belt conveyor transfer station. Thus, people pay more and more attentionto problems existed in traditional transfer station.Floor height of general belt conveyor transfer station is more than10m.Material moves down driven by gravity that causes a series of problems whichseriously affect normal operation of material-offering system. For example,coal-fired power plants are suffering from material blocking, dust pollution, beltunbalance-loading and over-wear. Sometimes, material broken rate is exactlyrestricted. For example, particle size of coke should be ensured during transferprocess after it was produced. Coke collides fiercely in traditional transferstation. Coke particle is always damaged and can not be used any more. To thisend, belt conveyor transfer station should be improved at once.Based on domestic and international researches about transfer station, ourresearch group went to some domestic transfer stations and made on-the-spotcondition investigations. Based on these first-hand materials, this paper deeplycarries out analyses on transfer process and dust producing mechanism. Discreteelement analysis software of EDEM is used to simulate material movement inhead mask, material tube and chute. Computational fluid dynamics software offluent is used to simulate gas-solid two-phase movement in the material channel.With cooperation from partner, design of T2transfer station is completed.For flaws in domestic and international belt conveyor transfer stations,according to relative requirements of cooperator, T2transfer station consists ofmodern head mask, sleeve distributor, non-power-drive (micro-power-drive)dust removing channel, and curved material tubes. This system could effectivelycontrol coal flow and air flow. Problems existed in traditional transfer station can be solved and remitted to a great extent. On basis of previous researches,computer simulation is more visualized. Material flow and flow field could beclearly displayed on the screen, which provides theoretical reference fordesigners and extends views of dealing with chronic problems in transferstation.
