To investigate the difference in the clarity, the clearance and the toXicity of the first-generation ionic water-soluble iodinated contrast agent diatrizoate and the second-generation non-ionic water-soluble iodinated contrast agent ioheXol in canine urinary tract vein venography, this study selected10healthy adult pekingese dogs to test canine urinary tract vein venography eXperiments by the different doses of two contrast agents. The result shows that:At the first, the diatrizoate’clarity is better than ioheXol in low-dose, the clarity of diatrizoate is about twice-dose ioheXol, especially in the renal pelvis and in the ureter. In the second, different doses of the two agents have no significant effect on canine blood and renal indicators. In the third, the ToXicity of diatrizoate on liver is positively correlated to the dose, however, the liver functions of the ioheXol group have not a significant change. Finally, The probability of allergic in diatrizoate group is significantly higher than ioheXol group, and by clearance eXperiment, we found the disappearance in the body of ioheXol was faster than diatrizoate, which descripted the ioheXol’s ToXicity is lower than diatrizoate.
