Early as in ancient Greece, Hippocrates proposed "symbol",but the existence of "semiotic of art" has a longer history.The metaphysical,conceptual,concise painting line of animal in the Western Paleolithic cave,and the original patterns’regular variation on pots in the Chinese Neolithicera,which both demonstrated that the "semiotic of art"had already appeared before "Human Civilization".However,the so-called "art semiotic" fell into a generalization and low intellectual dilemma in contemporary society which nowadays dominated by visual culture. Therefore, Cassirer’s "Man lives in a symbolic world as an animal symbolicum"turns our attention to "the creation process and the significance of this symbolic world"and"the relationship between Man and art semiotic". Thus,this thesis lands such an ambitious problem on the children’s paintings. When they showed us the significance or form isomorphic objects through their irregular lines and clumsy shape.In the beginning of grasping pencil,the charm of these little figures and their work is enough to overwhelm thousands of maestros. If we’re going to explore the drawing and psychological world of children,develop their artistic expression to understand them, so as to promote the integration of their personality,then all of this should start from our study on the art semiotic in children’s drawing.With regard to the children’s drawing characteristics,we often refer to the theory of stages of children’s cognitive development by Piaget and the development levels of children’s drawing by Lowenfeld.However,nowadays the fine art teachers usually cannot get acquainted with the feature of children’s drawing,and it is not yet so successful to observe and understand the children’s drawing(for2-12years old)with a altitude of "theory to be first",both of which make some fine art teachers and educators caught in a dilemma:the development of child’s drawing is consequent or skipping?Meanwhile, what is the feature and meaning of those art semiotic appeared in children’s drawing?The former is not the focus of this thesis,because it is meaningless to subvert the previous theories of children’s drawing development which has been already proved by various philosophers and educators.But due to the different social environment and artistic culture between western and eastern, the art semiotic created by the children is also not the same,which is the one of intentions of this thesis,that is to discuss the cultural differences refected in children’s drawing;The latter is the main goal of this article,that is,to explore the art semiotic’s performance symbol and regeneration process in children’s drawing at different stages of cognitive(for2-12years old). In addition,we are eager to discover the meaning of these amazing art semiotics,so that the adults can not only be confident to teach,but also have a " Creative and Mental Growth"with them,that is,hear and feel the children’s creation in their art semiotic and art symbolic process, which results in promoting the personality of the children.
