As it’s elegant and auspicious design patterns and sophisticated and exquisite crafts, known as the "Living Fossil" for the Chinese embroidery.The Maweixiu (Horsetail embroidery) of Shui ethnic group has its own unique importance, its design concept including ShuiShu, Totem, Folklore, local legend and so on, which totally demonstrated the essence of Shui ethnic group’s culture. Complex manufacturing processes, varied pattern ornamentation, craftsmanship which make it unique in China’s embroideries and concluding profouding research value, it can be said, Maweixiu is a great way to study Shui ethnic group’s culture.However, there exsit a lot of problems in the study, firstly, from the perspective of current situation of academic research, people are more concerned with the heritage of its technical approches and the economic benefits but not deep in its academic value. So many literatures only refers to the overview, after current research, there is just one master essay named with Maweixiu as the theme. Secondly, from an artistic value point of view, there are still many issues need to be got research much deeply. Thirdly, on the side of heritage and development, lots of issues need to be addressed, such as the inheritors reduction, the loss of traditional culture, undesirable industrial development channel and economic benefits etc.The article is devided into four chapters, illustated the representative Bangao Village of Sandong Town in Sandu County as a specific case, through in-depth investigation and research, systematic study the artistic value and heritage development, given the specific measures and revelation for the problems.Chapter1:Start from the significance and research meaning of Maweixiu, mainly introduce the reasons of topics, current research, research methods and definition of related concepts.Chapter2:Introduce the background of Maweixiu, which including origin, distribution, important inheritors interview and so on.
