Hu Ju is the orignal Shanghai opera, formerly konwn as "Ben Tan".In1920, ShaoWenbin and other famous artists renamed "Ben Tan" as "Shen Qu", to take themeaning of Shanghai’s song. After1920s, group of Wenming Xi performers changedejobs to apply for Shen Qu troupe, staged many large fashion show and costumepaly,making Hu Ju performances in the form of maturing. In1940s, a group ofdrama,film people engaged in Shen Qu troupe to do some director and choreographyjobs. From1940s, Shen Qu has changed the name to "Hu Ju".From the early days of"Hua Gu Xi" to entering the city of Shanghai,"Ben Tan","Shen Qu" for Beijing Operaand Kun Qu evenly divided to eventually named "Hu Ju", titles’ change reflects notonly the artists of Shanghai opera operas in the development processdifferent stateof mind, but also a reflection of the history of development of the Shanghai operaand the Shanghai social change are inseparable. However the development of Hu Juis far from being only the efforts of the artists, as the grassroots opera of Shanghaicity, Hu Ju in the development of continuous improvement and improve social groupsare not unrelated.The new play writters and directors participated in the Hu Jutroupe, adding a little new vitality to the development of Hu Ju.
