This thesis has attempted to analyze the style of Inscriptions at Top of Han Dynasty Stele,andto check the feasibility of introducing it into the seal cutting. This article also has Donein-depth research in its historical facts and value of being introduced into seal cutting creationin middle and later periods of the Qing Dynasty.On the basis of the scientific literatureexamination and image analysis, this paper argues that this viewpoint of introduction hascongenital advantage and feasibility,because the characters of Inscriptions at Top of HanDynasty Stele are similar to the characters of seals in Han Dynasty.The seal cutting masterDeng Shiru introduced inscriptions at Top of Han Dynasty Stele into his seal character andseal cutting which had become into his special individuality. He broke through the previousmodel of creation “Learn seal cutting from itself”, gave practical significance to the statement“Learn seal cutting from calligraphy”,and made it has meaningful connotation. He brokethrough the old restriction of different seal cutting developing directions,intaglio and rilievi.Deng Shiru also smashed the principle that Seal cutting would have experienced from birth toprosperous and finally decline. He inspired seal cutting artists the statement “Learn sealcutting from other sources” in late Qing Dynasty.Seal cutting artists in late Qing Dynastyreflected diversification in technique of expression and styles of seal cutting. They absorbednutritions from other subjects of art. On the creation method, seal cutting artists absorbedInscriptions at Top of Han Dynasty Stele and gave us inspiration that “Learn seal cutting fromother sources”must be based on“Learn seal cutting from itself”and “Learn seal cutting fromcalligraphy”.
